3 percent dearness allowance increased
In the Vidhansabha today, Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya of Mamta Government has presented the State Government’s Budget 2023-24 (West Bengal Budget 2023-24). Presenting the budget, Bhattacharya said that our government is going to give 3 percent additional dearness allowance to the employees and retired people of the state. All the pensioners of the state will also get its benefit.
3.39 lakh crore budget presented
Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has presented a budget of Rs 3.39 lakh crore for 2023-24 in the House today. The Finance Minister has given support to new businesses and manufacturing industry in the budget speech. He said that a fund of Rs 350 crore has also been announced to give loans of Rs 5 lakh each to 2 lakh young entrepreneurs in the state. Along with this, a proposal has been made in the budget to completely waive the fee on the supply of irrigation water to the farmers.
what is dearness allowance
The rate of dearness allowance (DA) is multiplied in the salary that comes after adding Grade Pay and Basic Salary of any government employee. The result that will come is called DA. The government takes such a decision to reduce the effect of inflation on the employees in the state. Dearness allowance has been increased many times to the employees. It is extended every 6 months.
Staff demands met
In November 2022, the government employees of West Bengal had demanded to give dearness allowance equal to the central government employees outside the assembly. The employees had protested a lot about this. The employees demanded that since the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, the Mamata Banerjee government has not given them revised dearness allowance. The demand which now seems to be fulfilled.
