This Akshaya Tritiya saw an increase in the demand for light jewelery as compared to heavy jewellery, but rising gold prices did not reduce the overall demand.
Hallmarking increased sales
GJC Chairman Sanyam Mehra said on the gold sale on Akshaya Tritiya, “This year people bought jewelery ranging from two to eight grams. Also, there has been a positive boost in gold sales due to hallmarking”. Let us tell you that from April 1 of the new financial year, the government has made hallmarking necessary for the sale of gold.

If seen, since Akshaya Tritiya, which fell in 2022 last year, till now there has been a jump of 20 percent in the prices of gold. Last year, on Akshaya Tritiya, celebrated on May 3, the price of 10 grams of gold was Rs 50,808. Which increased by about 20 percent to Rs 60,880 this year.
Increased demand for digital gold
Akshaya Tritiya also drew the attention of investors mainly towards digital gold. On this Saturday, April 22, the price of gold was beyond Rs 60,000, but investors invested in gold. This time more investment was seen in more mutual funds and exchange traded funds ie Gold ETFs.
