India has recently become the most populous country leaving behind China. However, in many parts of the world, the exact opposite problem is troubling. Many countries are troubled by the decreasing population. In India too, this problem has become a headache for the governments in some states. To fix this, a state government has started a unique campaign.
This is why the government is upset
This is news from the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, where the state government is constantly trying to increase the population and birth rate. In the tribal state, the population of indigenous people is continuously decreasing and their birth rate is also falling. The state government is worried about this and wants the natives of Sikkim to produce more and more children.
You will get these benefits if you have more children
For this, incentive schemes are already running in the state. Now the government has further expanded the incentive. The latest announcement is for the Sikkim government employees. With the aim of promoting the indigenous population in the state, a new scheme has been implemented from January 1 this year. Under this scheme, the state government has decided to give advance and additional increment to its employees having two or three children.
government notification issued
In this regard, the state government issued a notification this week. Personnel department secretary Rinjing Chewang Bhutia said in a notification issued on May 10 that state government employees holding Sikkim subject certificate/identity certificate who have two children will be given advance increment. He said that the employees who have three children will get an additional increment. He said that either of the spouses can claim for advance increment under mutual understanding.
Such employees will also get benefits
Bhutia said that this scheme will be effective from January 1, 2023 only. This means that the employees whose second or third child is born after January 1, 2023, will also be eligible to take advantage of this scheme. The Secretary of the Department of Personnel said that the benefit of the scheme will not be applicable in the case of adopted child i.e. in the case of adoption.
The Chief Minister had made this promise
The scheme, which provides financial incentives to state government employees, came to the fore nearly four months after Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang promised schemes to address the low fertility rate among people of indigenous ethnic origin in the state. Has come.
least populous state
Let us tell you that the population of this small state situated in the lap of the Himalayas is about seven lakhs. In this way Sikkim is the least populated state of India. The state government is also giving incentives to the common people for having a second or third child. In these cases, many facilities including financial help are being provided by the government.
