Personnel department secretary Rinjing Chewang Bhutia said in a notification issued on May 10 that state government employees holding Sikkim subject certificate/identity certificate who have two children will be given advance increment. He said that the employees who have three children will get an additional increment. He said that either of the spouses can claim for advance increment under mutual understanding.

Bhutia said that this scheme will be effective from January 1, 2023 only. This means that the employees whose second or third child is born after January 1, 2023, will also be eligible to take advantage of this scheme. The Secretary of the Department of Personnel said that the benefit of the scheme will not be applicable in the case of adopted child i.e. in the case of adoption.
