Provision of funds when demand increases

The Finance Minister said in a press conference in Bhubaneswar that there has been no reduction in the allocation of funds for MNREGA. This is a demand based scheme. Whenever the demand increases, provision of more money is made. Many, especially the opposition political parties, have raised questions about the funds given in the budget for the rural employment scheme for the financial year 2023-24. To which Finance Minister Sitharaman has replied.

The Finance Minister said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) is of the view that, to tackle poverty, it is necessary to empower the poor with basic necessities. This is also the biggest target of his government. He said that ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is actually being implemented line by line.

Got this much allocation in the budget

Finance Minister Sitharaman has allocated Rs 60,000 crore for the MNREGA scheme in the Union Budget (Budget 2023-24). This is 18 percent less and about 33 percent less than the budget estimate of Rs 73,000 crore for the current year 2022-23. 89,000 crore for the current year, lower than the Revised Estimates of Rs.

The objective of MNREGA should be to provide at least 100 days of unskilled manual labor to every family in rural areas in a financial year as per the demand. So that the poor do not consider themselves backward in the society. Along with ensuring social inclusion and working with the target of strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions.
