Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also buys Amul milk, said – this work is not against Karnataka

Amul Vs Nandini Controversy: For the last few days, there is a debate going on in the country over milk. Especially in the southern state of Karnataka, the Amul vs Nandini controversy is in full swing. Now Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also commented on this issue. She says that buying Amul from anywhere is not against Karnataka and she herself buys Amul milk.

election issue

The Finance Minister said on Sunday, it is shameful to suddenly say that Amul is being brought to Karnataka to eliminate Nandini. He claimed that Gujarat’s milk brand Amul came to Karnataka when the Congress was in power here. Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) sells milk, curd and other dairy products under the brand name Nandini. Sitharaman said that things were distorted and an emotional issue was made, as elections are due in Karnataka on May 10.

Amul buys in Delhi

The Finance Minister said that every state of the country has its own milk cooperative society. Who doesn’t recognize the Nandini brand from Karnataka? Now when I have come, I have eaten Nandini’s milk, curd, Peda… Of course I will buy Amul in Delhi. I represent Karnataka in Delhi, but if Nandini is not available there, I will not say that I will not buy milk. I buy Amul products. It is not against Karnataka.

Competition is good for the country

The Finance Minister said that Nandini brand also sells its products in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. Nandini does this work just like the dairy products of other states are available in Karnataka. I would say it is good competition. This is the idea of making India strong in every way. This competition is the reason that India has become the largest milk producing country in the world today.

Told the controversy shameful

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was responding to a question regarding the Amul-Nandini controversy during an interaction with ‘Thinkers Forum, Karnataka’ here. He said that suddenly this debate and controversy has been started, which is shameful. Amul entered Karnataka when the Congress was in power here. I am confused whether I should take the name of the then Chief Minister or not. The same respected former Chief Minister is now raising questions on Amul coming here.

Yeddyurappa got this credit

Crediting the previous BS Yediyurappa-led government in Karnataka for raising the procurement price of milk for the first time, Sitharaman said the state’s milk farmers needed to be supported. The Finance Minister said that Yeddyurappa’s government gave Rs 2 more per liter to the farmers. He said that the subsequent governments also did their work.
