Foodgrain Record Production: In the financial year 2022-23, 3305 lakh tonnes of food grains were produced in the country, which is a record. According to the Third Advance Estimates of production of major crops, the production of food grains in 2022-23 has been higher by 149.18 lakh tonnes as compared to 2021-22. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has released these figures.
Releasing these figures, the Agriculture Minister said that there has been a record production of rice, wheat, maize, soybean, rapeseed, mustard and sugarcane this year. He said that due to the hard work of farmers, efficiency of scientists and the policies of the government, the agriculture sector is progressing continuously.
According to the third advance estimate, the production of rice in 2022-23 has been a record 1355.42 lakh tonnes, which is 60.71 lakh tonnes more than last year. Wheat production record has been 1127.43 lakh tonnes, which is 50.01 lakh tonnes more than last year. Maize production recorded a record 359.13 lakh tonnes, which is 21.83 lakh tonnes more. Moong production in 2022-23 was 37.40 lakh tonnes, which is 5.74 lakh tonnes more than last year. Total pulses production has been 275.04 lakh tonnes, which is 2.02 lakh tonnes more than in 2021-22. Total oilseeds production was 409.96 lakh tonnes, which is 30.33 lakh more. And the production of sugarcane was a record 4942.28 lakh tonnes, which is 548.03 lakh tonnes more.
These figures of production of different crops have been prepared on the basis of feedback received from the states, which have been verified from other sources. These figures will be reviewed again based on the feedback received from the states.
After the record production of food grains, it is believed that there can be a big relief in food inflation in the coming days. The biggest night will come from the record production of wheat as there was a huge jump in the price of flour along with wheat in the last one year.
