Rahul Dravid India vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2022: Going into the T20 World Cup, there was some doubt as to how Suryakumar Yadav would perform in the tournament. He has played astonishing innings in various seasons of IPL and T20 for India since his debut in March 2021. But there were doubts about his performance in the bouncy conditions of Australia, a country where he had never played before. They performed brilliantly at the end of the Super 12 stage, where India finished on top of Group 2 to reach the semi-finals.

Suryakumar had a major role to play as the table-topper in the India group, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 25 balls, helping India reach 186/5 in 20 overs. After India’s 71-run win over Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, head coach Rahul Dravid praised Suryakumar for his stellar performance, saying he was clear in procedures and strategies.

He said, “It’s unbelievable. That’s why he is the No. 1 T20 player in the world at the moment, because of the consistency in a format where he scores at strike rate. It’s not easy to match strike rate. So The way he is playing is fantastic. I think he is very clear in his procedures and strategy.

Dravid said, “He has been absolutely fantastic for us. It is a pleasure to watch him. When he is in that kind of form, it is a pleasure to see him bat.”

In Sydney, against the Netherlands, Suryakumar changed the pace of the innings with a 25-ball fifty. In Perth, against South Africa, where everyone was struggling, he played long enough to get a fighting fifty on a bouncy pitch. In Melbourne, against Zimbabwe, he batted in the death overs to take India to a colossal total and became the third highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Dravid also referred to the fitness improvements worked out by Suryakumar, which have helped India achieve singles and double runs with quick running between the wickets.
