• According to Garuda Purana, rich people should not be stingy in donating. God has made you so capable that you can help the needy, so donate. This reduces bad karma and the person attains salvation.
• Keep in mind that if your income is less then don’t donate without thinking. A person should always donate according to his ability. According to the scriptures, only one-tenth of the earned income should be donated.
• There are some rules and regulations for donating too. For example, never donate a broom, stale food, spoiled or used oil or plastic, glass or aluminum metal utensils. Due to this, the blessings of the house go away.
