Twigs of sycamore and castor tree should be used for Holika Dahan. Wherein those who can also use the wood of a dry tree. Use a pot made of cow dung in the upper part of Holika. It is considered good for the environment.

- It is a religious belief that the couple who have only one child (son) should not light the fire of Holika Dahan. It is not considered auspicious.
- Holika Dahan is done only during Pradosh period without Bhadra. This year, the auspicious time for Holika Dahan will be from 6:23 to 8:51 on March 7.
