In the last one year, the price of milk and paneer has increased several times. The GST on packaged foods has also increased in July 2022. Due to expensive diesel-CNG, freight became expensive, so companies have not hesitated to put the load directly on the customer’s pocket.
Inflation hit on Diwali
sweets The prices of sweets have increased on this Diwali as compared to the previous Diwali. In the last one year, the most important thing for making sweets, milk has become expensive. Due to this the prices of mawa and chhena have increased. Wheat – sugar and dry fruits have also become expensive in the last one year, due to which you have to loose your pocket more to buy sweets on Diwali. The cashew katli which was being available for Rs 800 a kg last Diwali has gone up to Rs 1000 a kg this Diwali. The milk cake which was being available for Rs 450 a kg last year has gone up to Rs 600 a kg this year.
Dry Fruits Dry fruits have become very expensive in the last one year. The cashew which was being available for Rs 700 to Rs 800 per kg last year is now getting at Rs 1200 per kg. Almonds have also become expensive in the last one year. Last year, on Diwali, almonds were available for Rs 500 to Rs 700 per kg, now they are getting Rs 800 to 1000 per kg. The price of raisins has also increased. Raisins available for Rs.500/kg are available for Rs.600/kg. Due to the cost of dry fruits, more money is being spent to give gifts to relatives and friends. Sweets and chocolates have also become expensive due to expensive dry fruits.
Milk In the last one year, dairy companies have increased milk prices several times citing cost. Due to expensive milk, the prices of khoya-paneer, chenna, ghee, curd have increased. If sweets are made from milk, then it has a direct effect on the prices of milk products. On an average, an increase of 15 to 25 percent in the price of milk has been seen since last Diwali. Due to which people’s pockets are being cut on this Diwali.
GheeGhee is most important for making sweets or dishes in festivals. People also light ghee lamps on Diwali. But due to the cost of milk, the price of ghee has increased tremendously in a year. Ghee available for Rs 400 to 450 per kg on last Diwali has gone from Rs 525 to Rs 600 per kg this Diwali.
cheese The use of paneer increases during festivals. But due to the high price of milk, cheese has become very expensive. Whether it is branded paneer or non-branded, both the prices have increased. Paneer, which is available for Rs 350 per kg on Diwali last year, is being available for Rs 400 to 450 per kg this Diwali.
electric lights , Diwali But oil is needed to light the lamp. But due to expensive oil, people are buying electric lights. In view of the increasing demand, traders have increased the prices of electric lights this year. The cost of lights which was Rs 300 to 400 last year has gone up to Rs 600 to 700 this year.
