Go First Update: Aviation sector regulator DGCA has asked crisis-hit domestic airlines GoFirst to present a detailed roadmap of plans to resume operations. DGCA has asked GoFirst to submit a revival plan within 30 days for the airlines to start operations within the next 30 days.
DGCA has asked GoFirst to provide the number of aircraft available for operation, details related to pilots and other personal, maintenance arrangements and funding. After these details are made available by GoFirst, DGCA will again take an appropriate decision in the direction of starting the flight.
GoFirst has canceled its flights from May 3, 2023 due to poor financial condition. GoFirst has informed DGCA that no date has been fixed yet to start operating flights again. Since last week, the company had said that it has canceled flights till May 26, after that it was being speculated that the company could start its flight operations from May 27 with 20 aircraft, but now after the clarification of the airlines There is no possibility of starting the operation after that.
A judge of the Delhi High Court has recused herself from hearing the applications filed by the companies providing aircraft on lease to GoFirst. Justice Pratibha M Singh on Thursday informed about recusing herself from hearing these petitions without assigning any reason. He said that the matter should now be kept for hearing before another judge on Friday on the orders of the Chief Justice.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Monday said that the insolvency resolution proceedings against GoFirst airline will be continued, dealing a blow to the efforts of aircraft lessors to get back their planes. GoFirst is one of the largest companies providing cheap air services in the domestic market. Airlines were going through a bad economic phase for a long time, after which the company stopped its flight services on 3 May. Along with this, while approaching the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), he had applied for bankruptcy, which was accepted.
