Department of Financial Services: The Union Ministry of Finance today held a review meeting with the heads of Public Sector Banks and Financial Institutions of the country. The meeting was presided over by Dr.Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS). The Ministry was asked to take steps in the interest of the farmers.

Many important schemes of the central government were discussed in this meeting. In which the progress of various social security (Jan Suraksha) schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra and Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor Very special schemes like Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PMSVANidhi), and agriculture loan etc. have been reviewed. The ministry has shared information about this on its official Twitter. In the meeting, all banks have been encouraged to review the schemes related to social security promoting financial inclusion under the schemes for the financial year 2022-23. Along with this, it has also been discussed that banks should organize financial literacy camps, so that awareness about digital financial transactions including insurance schemes, UPI Lite can be promoted.
Appreciation of Banking Services
The Department of Financial Services has specially praised the work of the banks in this meeting. In this, in the last 7-8 years, the access to banking services has become very easy, which has been greatly appreciated. Now to provide access to banking services to the bottom of the pyramid, banks need to enrich the customer experience. Along with this, the government needs to make every possible effort with the banks.
‘Farmers should get financial help’
The Financial Services Department has urged all the banks that it is necessary for the schemes being run for the farmers of the country to reach them in a good way. Along with this, for the purpose of providing Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility to all farmers, PSBs were also requested to take the help of PM Kisan database. AIF scheme of farmers has been reviewed. Along with this, officials of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department were also present in the review related to agriculture loan.
