Who was the demon Banasura?
- The demon Banasura was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva loved him very much. The mention of this demon is found in the religious texts of Tretayug and Dwapar Yug as well as in Shivpuran.
- Banasur was also included in Ravana’s demon army as a mighty warrior, who also fought with Lord Rama. But it was only during the war that he recognized the real form of Shri Ram. That is, he had come to know that Shri Ram is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and because of this he left the battlefield.
Why did you fight with Lord Krishna?
- The demon of Tretayuga was alive in Dwapar Yuga as well and was running his kingdom amidst the beautiful mountains of Uttarakhand with his entire family. But in the meanwhile such an incident happens, due to which he unknowingly considers Lord Krishna as his enemy.
- Actually, Banasura’s daughter Usha falls in love with Shri Krishna’s grandson Anirudh. Then she reached her elusive friend Chitralekha and told about her love. Then Chitralekha, due to her powers, brings Anirudh from Dwarka to the palace of Banasura’s daughter, which was situated on a hill of Lohaghat in Uttarakhand.
- When Banasura comes to know about Anirudh, he cannot accept his daughter’s love and imprisons Anirudh and puts him in jail. When Lord Krishna comes to know about this, he comes from Dwarka in Gujarat to the city of Banasur in Uttarakhand to free his grandson Anirudh from imprisonment. Here he has a war with Banasura.
The descendants of the demon still exist
- Even today, not only the walls of Banasura’s fort are present in Uttarakhand, but his descendants also live in a village located near the fort, which is known as Lohaghat. All these people proudly say that they are the descendants of Banasura and worship him as their forefather.
- The descendants of Banasur say that what if he was a demon, he was also an ardent devotee of Shiva, whom Lord Shiva loved a lot and considered as his son. Let us tell you that the hill on which the fort of Banasura is located, Kailash mountain can also be seen from it. Whenever you go for a trip, you will be able to visit Mount Kailash if the weather and luck favor you. Because Kailash cannot be seen when the weather is bad or when there is a lot of fog on the mountains.
Banasura’s treasure is buried in the fort
- Let you clear one thing that the fort of Banasura has walls but it does not have a roof. It is believed that the Chandravanshi kings tried to build a roof on this fort several times, but because the roof of this fort was demolished by Lord Krishna himself during the war, the roof could never stand on this fort after that.
- The descendants of Banasura believe that somewhere in this fort Banasura’s immense wealth is also buried. In its search several meters deep excavation was also done in the fort. But nobody could find anything. Because no one knows at which place that treasure was buried by Banasura before the war.
