CAC meeting to be held on December 29, new selectors may be announced in first week of January

BCCI New Selection Committee: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now started taking steps to form a new selection committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will meet on Thursday and see the list of shortlisted people. The name of the new selection committee can be announced in the first week of January. The selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma was supposed to leave on December 25 itself, but due to non-constitution of the new committee, they have been asked to stay for the time being.

While Chetan Sharma and Harvinder Singh have applied for the post of selectors again, the term of Debasish Mohanty and Sunil Joshi has ended. The people involved in this committee have been entrusted with the responsibility of watching the match of the third round of Ranji Trophy. The series against Sri Lanka is to start in the first week of January itself, so the team for this will also have to be selected by the old committee.

How can be the new selector committee?

Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is at the forefront of the race to become the new chairman. If sources are to be believed, Venkatesh is the most successful cricketer among those who have applied for the post of chief selector. The board is also looking for a T20 specialist in the new committee. Salil Ankola’s name has been raised many times from West Zone and if Ashish Selar gets help then he is sure to get this opportunity.

Shiv Sunder Das can be elected from the East Zone, while Maninder Singh, Atul Vasan and Nikhil Chopra are in the race from the North. The name of Nayan Mongia is also being mentioned continuously, who may get a chance from the Central Zone.
