Chaitra Navratri 2023 Day 8, Maa Mahagauri Story:
श्वेते वृषे समारूधा श्वेताम्बर्धरा शुचिः।

Devotees are celebrating the festival of Chaitra Navratri 2023 with devotion and faith. Fasting is observed for nine days during Navratri, nine forms of Maa Bhagwati are worshipped. But Ashtami and Navami days of Navratri are considered important. The eighth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Mahagauri.
Please tell that Chaitra Navratri has started from 22 March 2023. On the first day of Navratri Maa Shailputri, on the second day Maa Brahmacharini, on the third day Maa Chandraghanta, on the fourth day Maa Kushmanda, on the fifth day Maa Skandamata, on the sixth day Maa Katyayani and on the seventh day Maa Kalratri were worshipped. Now on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, the eighth day of Navratri, Maa Mahagauri, the eighth power of Maa Durga, will be worshipped. By worshiping Maa Mahagauri, all the sins and deeds of the devotees are washed away and auspicious fruits are attained.
Mahagauri’s form
Mahagauri’s clothes and ornaments are all white. That’s why mother loves white color. Even in worship, white things and bhog are offered to the mother. Due to the love of white colour, he is also called Shwetambardhara. Mother’s vehicle is Taurus and she has four arms. There is Abhay Mudra in the upper right hand and Trishul in the lower hand. In the upper left hand, the mother is holding a damru and in the lower hand there is groom’s posture. The whole posture of the mother is very calm. The worship mantra of Maa Mahagauri is-
‘Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Maa Gauri Rupen Sansthita. Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah: ॥
Story of Maa Mahagauri
According to the legend of Maa Mahagauri, the eighth power of Maa Durga, Maa did austere penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. During penance, the mother remained foodless for thousands of years, due to which her body turned black. When Lord Shiva was pleased with the harsh penance of the mother, he accepted the mother as his wife and washed her body with the holy water of the Ganges and made her extremely radiant, due to which her black color became like fair complexion. After this, this form of Mother Parvati was known as Mahagauri.
