Mother Dairy Cuts Edible Oil Prices: Common people have got a big relief in the cost of expensive edible oil. Mother Dairy, which sells edible oil under the name of Dhara brand, has announced a reduction in the MRP of edible oil by Rs 15 to 20 per litre. Next week, when new stock will come in the market, people will be able to get cheap edible oil in the retail market.
On Tuesday, the Food Ministry had directed the Edible Oil Association (SEA) to cut the prices of edible oil, after which Maday Dairy has cut the prices of edible oil. A Mother Dairy spokesperson said that after the reduction in prices in the international market and better production of domestic crops, it has been decided to immediately cut the prices of all variants of Dhara’s edible oil by Rs 15 to 20 per litre. This reduction has been done in the prices of soybean oil, rice bran oil, sunflower oil, groundnut oil.
The prices of one liter polypack of Dhara Refined Soybean Oil have been reduced from Rs 170 to Rs 150. The price of rice bran oil has been reduced from Rs 190 to Rs 179 per litre. The price of Dhara’s sunflower oil has been reduced from Rs 175 to Rs 160 a litre. The price of groundnut oil has been reduced from Rs 255 to Rs 240 per litre.
The Solvent Extractors Association of India has also asked its members to submit details of price cuts in the last three months to the Food Ministry. Earlier, the Ministry of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs had asked the companies making edible oil to cut the prices of edible oil. The ministry says that despite the reduction in prices in the international market, the oil prices have not been reduced as much as the prices of packaged food. The government asked the members of Cellvent Extract Association to cut the MRP of edible oil so as to provide relief to the consumers.
