Holika Dahan 2023 Bhadra: In Hinduism, there is a tradition of burning Holika before Holi. It is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. This year the shadow of Bhadra is going to remain on Holika Dahan. That’s why there is doubt whether Holika will burn on 06 March or on 07 March. However, in most parts of the country Holika Dahan is on March 07 and Holi will be celebrated on March 08. Before every auspicious work in Hinduism, the time period of Bhadra is known, only after that it is decided whether to do that work or postpone it. Because doing any work during Bhadra period is not considered auspicious. Therefore, after knowing the auspicious time by an astrologer scholar before doing any work or purchasing an item, keeping in mind the time of Bhadra, the time of auspicious time is determined.

According to Jyotishacharya Pandit Suresh Shrimali, if Bhadrakal occurs at the time of any festival or festival, then some auspicious work related to that festival cannot be done at that time. By the way, the meaning of Bhadra can be inferred from the meaning of this word. This word has many meanings but there are also some meanings related to Sanskrit. This word means inauspicious thing, obstacle, disturbance, insulting thing and according to astrology, Bhadra is an inauspicious yoga. That’s why if any auspicious work is done on earth during this yoga, it gets destroyed. This is also known as Vishti Bhadra, in which no auspicious work takes place. What is Bhadra?

Jyotishacharya Pandit Suresh Shrimali explains that, to understand Bhadra, it is detected by its part in the tithi coming in the side. In short, two parts of each date are known by different names. Depending on the side, the first or second part of the date in which doing auspicious work is considered prohibited is called Bhadra or Bhadrakal. Bhadra is also known by twelve other names. These are the twelve names-

1. Dadhi Mukhi, 2. Bhadra, 3. Epidemic, 4. Kalaratri, 5. Kharanna, 6. Vishtikaran, 7. Maharudra, 8. Asurakshaykari, 9. Bhairavi, 10. Mahakali, 11. Kulputrika and 12. Dhanya.

According to the Panchang, Raksha Bandhan falls on the full moon of the month of Shravan and Holika Dahan falls on the full moon of the month of Phalgun. For this reason, keeping in mind the time period of Bhadra during these festivals, it is considered. The duration of this Bhadrakal is affected and sometimes some auspicious works are not done. According to mythology, Bhadra was born from Surya’s wife Mata Chhaya and was the sister of Shani Dev, who was asked by Brahma to reside as the seventh Karana.

Why and at what time does Bhadra take place?

According to Jyotishacharya Pandit Suresh Shrimali, if you know this, according to the two parts of the day, Bhadra starts at the time mentioned below. The first part of Chaturdashi and Saptami in Krishna Paksha is called Bhadra. The second part of Tritiya and Dashami Tithi of Krishna Paksha is called Bhadra. Ashtami of Shukla Paksha and the first part of full moon date is called Bhadra. The second part of Ekadashi and Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha is called Bhadra.

Bhadra is directly related to Sun and Saturn. The time period of Bhadra is considered to be from 7 hours to 13 hours 20 minutes. But on the basis of Nakshatra and Tithi sequence or Panchak at a particular time, this period can be more or less. Along with the Earth, Bhadra exerts its influence on Patal and Swarg. On the basis of Muhurta Chintamani, it is said that the abode of Bhadra varies with the position of the Moon. According to the zodiac signs, the condition of the moon is calculated to be of Bhadra.

That is, when Moon is in Cancer, Leo, Aquarius or Pisces, Bhadra resides on the earth. When Moon is in Aries, Taurus or Gemini, then Bhadra Kavas is in heaven. When Moon is in Sagittarius, Virgo, Libra or Capricorn, Bhadra resides in Patal Lok. It is because of this position of the Moon that Bhadra takes place. If due to some reason it is very important to do any auspicious work during Bhadra, that is, it is not possible to postpone it, then there is a law to keep fast on that day.

Some examples of auspicious works are like this, Mundan, housewarming, housewarming, rituals, marriage rituals, Rakshabandhan, starting a new business, Rakshabandhan etc. Knowing the auspicious time before doing any of these auspicious works means that there should not be Bhadra at that time. Many types of calculations are done even after Bhadra in Muhurta. For example, the condition of planets, Nakshatra, Paksha and Yoga etc. are seen. But also know that during Bhadra work like working on a plan to defeat an enemy, use of weapon, surgery, taking legal action against someone, starting any work related to animals can be done.

Kashyap Rishi has described the time of Bhadra as having a malefic effect. It is said that the auspicious work done at this time also has an inauspicious effect on the human being. If any such situation has arisen in which auspicious work has to be done in Bhadra, then observe fast on that day. Apart from this, if there is an important work, then 5 Ghatis (2 hours) of the beginning of Bhadra should be left. Bhadra is located in the mouth for 5 Ghatis (2 hours), 2 Ghatis (48 minutes) in the throat, 11 Ghatis (4 hours 24 minutes) in the heart and 4 Ghatis (1 hour 36 minutes) in the tailbone.
