PCB On Asia Cup 2023: After BCCI’s opposition, Asia Cup 2023 may be held in Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan, but it is believed that if the tournament is held in Sri Lanka, the Pakistani team will not participate. Actually, in view of India’s opposition and security arrangements in Pakistan, it is believed that Asia Cup 2023 will not be organized in Pakistan. Instead of Pakistan, Asia Cup 2023 can be organized in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. Sri Lanka is leading in this hosting race.

BCCI rejects PCB’s hybrid model

Earlier, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to withdraw the hosting of Asia Cup 2023 from Pakistan on 8 May. However, earlier after India refused to play in Pakistan, the PCB came up with a hybrid model. In this, there was a plan to have India’s matches in UAE and rest of the teams would be played in Pakistan, but India did not get ready on this hybrid model. In fact, the hosting of the Asia Cup has been snatched from Pakistan after the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka boards raised objections regarding this model. Now the Asia Cup can be organized in Sri Lanka.

Apart from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Cricket Board supported BCCI

If media reports are to be believed, no board agreed to the proposal of Pakistan to hold India’s match in UAE and other teams to hold it in Pakistan. Whereas, apart from Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh Cricket Board also thought it appropriate to go with the BCCI. Significantly, there is a plan to organize Asia Cup 2023 in the month of September. However, the schedule will be issued by the Asian Cricket Council as soon as the host country is decided. Apart from this, Asia Cup 2023 is to be organized in 50 over format.
