Babar Azam Trolled After Failing To Reach Fifty On Battery-Friendly Multan Pitch

Babar Azam failed to score big in Tests yet another time as he was dismissed on 30 off 71 balls during Day 1 of the ongoing Pakistan vs England 1st Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on October 7 (Monday). Babar’s failure to convert a start into a big score in Tests once more triggered cricket fans and enthusiasts who took to social media to criticise the former Pakistan captain on his string of low scores in Tests. Notably, Babar has now gone 17 Test innings and over 650 days without scoring a fifty.

Azam played a relatively slow knock of 30 runs on a surface that offered much to the batters in Multan whereas Pakistan captain Shan Masood had earlier registered his fifth Test century off just 102 balls, underscoring the batter-friendly nature of the surface. Notably, Babar’s last Test half-century came back in December 2022, in a Test against New Zealand at home.

Pakistan In Good Position Despite Babar Azam’s Wicket

Despite Babar’s wicket, Pakistan are poised for a big first-innings total in the Multan Test against England, thanks to centuries from opener Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood, both of home achieved their respective fifth Test hundreds. At the end of Day 1’s play, Pakistan stood at 328-4 in 86 overs.

Babar Azam came to the crease after the fall of Shafique. Azam, in his innings of 30 runs off 71 balls hit four boundaries before getting out to England pacer Chris Woakes.
