Khatauli assembly seat : The Election Commission has announced the dates for the by-election to Khatauli Assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission has informed that voting on this seat will be held on December 5. The Election Commission said that the by-election is being held on this seat due to disqualification of BJP MLA Vikram Singh.
The commission said that notification on November 10, nomination till November 17, scrutiny of nomination papers on November 18, nomination can be withdrawn till November 21. There will be voting on 5 December. Apart from this, counting of votes will take place on 8 December. The commission said that the by-elections to this assembly seat should be completed by December 10.

However, apart from Khatauli, by-elections are being held on Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat of UP and Rampur assembly seat. Nomination for both these seats will also start from November 10 and nomination can be done till November 17. Whereas on December 5, voting will be held on both these seats. Apart from this, the result will come on the day of the results of the assembly elections of two states i.e. on December 8.
Mainpuri seat fell vacant after the death of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav. He died on 10 October at a hospital in Gurugram. On the other hand, SP veteran Azam Khan has been sentenced to three years by the court. After which his membership has expired. Because of this, elections are being held on Rampur assembly seat. But now the Khatauli seat has become vacant after the membership of BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini. On which the dates for the by-elections have now been announced.
