An Amazon India spokesperson declined to comment on this. Amazon’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andy Jesse has shared an article link. In the article, he has given information about the decision to eliminate 18,000 posts globally. Jessie wrote, “We are planning to eliminate about 18,000 positions. Many groups will be affected by this decision. However, most of the posts are related to Amazon Store and PXT (People, Experience and Technology) organization.

Earlier, Amazon had announced the layoff of more than 10,000 employees. According to the company, employees are no longer needed on many posts, so some posts are being abolished. In such a situation, the tenure of the affected employees will be till January 17, 2023 and after that the service will be considered terminated.

Ministry has taken action

The Union Ministry of Labor had sent summons to the Amazon company asking it to appear before the Deputy Labor Commissioner in Bengaluru. The Ministry wrote to the company in its notice, must be present in this office on this date and time in person or through a representative with all the evidence. The representative of Amazon has given his statement before the Deputy Labor Commissioner of the Ministry of Labor in Bengaluru.

However, no representative of Amazon India was present during this hearing. Amazon India had said that it reviews the number of employees in every vertical of the company every year. Which shows whether he needs to adjust the number of employees with the changing environment or not.
