Stock Market Closing On 20th March 2023: The Indian stock market has had to bear the brunt of the banking crisis in America and Europe. There has been a big decline in the Indian stock market on the first trading day of the week. Due to profit-booking by investors, the Sensex fell by 900 points and the Nifty by 270 points during the day. However, recovery returned in the market from the lower level. Despite this, the BSE Sensex fell by 300 points at 57,689 points and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 17001 with a fall of 100 points.

In today’s trade, there has been a decline in the shares of Banking, IT, Metals, Energy, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors. While the stock of FMCG, media sector gained momentum. The mid-cap and small-cap indices also closed down. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 5 stocks closed in green mark and 25 in red mark. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 13 advanced while 37 closed down.

In today’s trade, HUL closed with a gain of 2.61 per cent, BPCL 2.35 per cent, ITC 0.87 per cent, Grasim 0.48 per cent, Nestle 0.42 per cent, Kotak Mahindra 0.39 per cent, Sun Pharma 0.37 per cent. Looking at the falling stocks, Bajaj Finserv closed down by 4.33 per cent, Adani Enterprises by 3.82 per cent, Bajaj Finance by 3.17 per cent, Hindalco by 2.76 per cent and Wipro by 2.48 per cent.

There has been a decline in the wealth of investors. The market cap of companies listed on the stock market BSE has come down to Rs 255.64 lakh crore, which was Rs 257.59 lakh crore on Friday. That is, in today’s trading session, there has been a dent in the wealth of investors to the tune of Rs 1.95 lakh crore.
