Adani Power Limited, the power company of Adani Group, which does business in various sectors, has started supplying Adani Bangladesh Power Supply to the neighboring country Bangladesh. For this, the company has set up a thermal power plant in Godda district of Jharkhand. Due to this, it is expected that there will be a lot of improvement in the power supply situation in the neighboring country.

In a press release issued by Adani Group, it was told that Adani Power Limited has installed the first 800 MW ultra super critical thermal power generation unit in Godda district of Jharkhand. With this, the company has started supplying 748 MW power to Bangladesh. The company said that the power being sent from Godda will improve the situation in the neighboring country, as well as provide relief to Bangladesh from expensive power generated from expensive liquid fuels and ultimately reduce the average cost of power being purchased there.
First plant equipped with these capabilities
SB Khayaliya, CEO of Adani Power Limited, said, “The Godda power plant is an asset of strategic importance according to the age-old relations between India and Bangladesh. It will ease the power supply in Bangladesh and increase the competitiveness of the industries and ecology there. It is going to be the most efficient and eco-friendly thermal power plant to be set up in India as well as in the entire South-Eastern region. It will be one of the best plant in the world in its category. It is the first power plant in the country, which has started operations with 100% Flue Gas Desulphurization, SCR and Zero Water Discharge on the first day.
Agreement signed six and a half years ago
The Bangladesh Power Development Board had entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with Adani Power Jharkhand Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited, in November 2017. The contract was for the purchase of 1,496 MW of electricity from two ultra super critical thermal power generation units of 800 MW each to be built in Godda.
Second unit will start soon
Adani Power Limited has already become India’s largest private power company. The company has started its first ultra super critical thermal power generation unit in Godda under the agreement with Bangladesh. The company has expressed the hope of starting the second ultra super critical thermal power generation unit of 800 MW capacity soon.
