My morale is very high after the first scanning. My doctors are also very happy like me. One of them asked me how I am recovering so fast. What am I doing that I have recovered so quickly. I had thought that now the difficulty has come. I have to fight it hard.
Follow-up is needed after surgery
Breast cancer survivors need regular follow-up, said Dr G Vamshi Krishna Reddy, director of oncology services at Yashoda Hospitals’ consultant medical oncologist and hemato oncologist in Hyderabad. The follow-up schedule is usually after surgery. It is very important to get it done continuously for 2 years. It is very important to get it done every year at a gap of 3 and 6 months.
The expert said that breast cancer survivor is always at risk of one thing. By the way, people are at risk of getting breast cancer again. That’s why such cancer survivors should always get screened. Along with this, they are also advised to get mammogram done. Regular PET/CT should be followed till the doctor is convinced.
