Aadhaar Based Face Authentication: The craze for Aadhaar based face authentication transaction is continuously increasing in the country. According to the Ministry of Information Technology, Aadhaar-based face authentication transactions have reached an all-time high of 10.7 million in May 2023, which is the highest since the launch of this facility in October 2021.
According to the data released by the ministry, this is the second consecutive month when the number of Aadhaar-based face authentication transactions has been more than 10 million. The number of Aadhaar based face authentication transactions is continuously increasing and there has been an increase of 38 per cent in May as compared to January 2023.
The Aadhaar-based face authentication solution developed by UIDAI is being used by 47 institutions, including state government departments, ministries, central government ministries and banks.
Aadhaar based face authentication is done to identify the beneficiaries for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Apart from this, verification of beneficiaries of PM Kisan and digital life certificate for pensioners is used to remove it at home. Apart from this, Aadhaar based face authentication is being used to open bank accounts through Business Correspondent with the attendance of employees in government departments.
Aadhaar based face authentication is proving to be very convenient for these senior citizens who are facing problems with the quality of fingerprints. Also, it is proving helpful for those who do wages.
In the month of May, UIDAI has executed 14.86 million Aadhaar updates following requests from citizens. 254 million e-KYC transactions have been seen in May. 15.2 billion Aadhaar e-KYC transactions have been completed by the end of May 2023. Due to e-KYC, there has been a huge reduction in the cost of customer acquisition for financial companies, telecom service provider companies.
