Australia’s star batsman David Warner has not got relief from Cricket Australia for the time being. The ban on captaining David Warner will continue. Cricket Australia has made it clear that it is not removing the ban on David Warner. Along with this, Cricket Australia has appointed fast bowler Pat Cummins as the captain of the ODI team.
David Warner’s captaincy was banned for life due to the ball-tampering controversy during the South Africa tour in 2018. But after Aaron Finch recently said goodbye to ODI cricket, the possibility of a ban on David Warner had increased. Actually, because of his experience, David Warner was involved in the race to become the captain of the ODI team.
But after a long gap of a month, Cricket Australia reposed trust in Pat Cummins instead of Warner. Cummins was appointed the captain of the Test team last year in place of Tim Paine. Now Cummins has also become the first fast bowler to lead the Australian team in ODIs.
Warner may get relief
On the other hand, for some time now, there has been a continuous demand to remove the life ban imposed on captaining David Warner. Recently, there was an appeal from the organizers of Big Bash League to lift the ban on Warner. Cricket Australia has also agreed to hear the matter.
However, Warner can get relief in this matter in future. There remains a possibility that Warner may take over in place of Cummins if needed in the future. His leadership ban may be more likely to be reversed after the CA board proposes changes to his code of conduct.
