Bell Tree Importance and Rules: Bael tree has special importance in Hindu religion. Like Tulsi, Peepal, Banana etc., Bael tree is also considered important in the scriptures. Especially the wood, leaves, flowers and fruits of bel tree are used in the worship of Lord Shiva.

As much as the importance of Lord Shiva has been told in the religious texts, the Bael tree has also been told equally. It is believed that many gods and goddesses including Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati, Lakshmi ji reside in the Bael tree.

Generally flowers or fruits of any tree are used in worship. But Bael is such a tree, whose leaves are also considered sacred and important for worship. In Shivpuran it has been described as a divine tree. Belpatra is very dear to Shivji. That’s why belpatra is definitely offered in all worships related to Lord Shiva. Never make these mistakes related to Bel tree

• It has been said in Shivpuran that vine leaves, twigs or branches should never be plucked on Mondays. If you have to offer belpatra in worship on Monday, then break it a day before and keep it.
• Along with Monday, bell leaves should not be broken even on Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi, Amavasya and Sankranti.
• Bael tree should never be cut. It is said that by cutting the Bael tree, a person is surrounded by many sorrows and the family starts getting destroyed.
• Belt leaves are never impure. That’s why you can again offer the offered belpatra in worship.

Importance of Bel tree

• It is a religious belief that the Bael tree originated from the sweat of Mother Parvati. It is said that Girja resides in its root, Maheshwari in its trunk, Dakshinayani in its branches, Maa Parvati in its leaves, Katyani in its fruits, Gauri in its flowers and Maa Lakshmi in all its vine trees. Being born from the sweat of Maa Parvati, Maa resides in this tree in all forms.
• It has been told in Shivpuran that if the dead body of a deceased is taken through the shadow of vine, then it attains salvation and Shivlok.
• Bael tree has been considered important for pleasing the ancestors and getting their blessings and also for getting rid of Pitridosh. Offering water to it regularly removes Pitrudosh.
• According to Vastu Shastra, planting a bael tree in the north-west direction of the house brings fame and the house is filled with happiness and good fortune.
• According to Bilvashtak Stotra ,darshanam bilvavrikshasya sparshanam papanashanam, Aghorpapasamaharam Ek Bilvam Shivarpanam”That is, all the sins of a person are destroyed only by the touch and sight of the Bel tree. Aghor sins are destroyed by a belpatra offered to Shiva.
