5G In India : It has been more than a week since 5G was officially launched in India and telecom companies such as Airtel and Jio are currently offering next-gen network services in India. Airtel has started its ‘5G Plus’ service in eight cities and Jio is conducting 5G trials in some key areas. this month Diwali Jio can officially launch 5G network around.
However, even after the launch of 5G, some people – who live in cities where 5G has been launched – are not able to use 5G on their smartphones. The reason for this is that their phones have a software-oriented lock, which prevents them from accessing the 5G network. Such locks are sometimes imposed on devices at the time of launch, because the network associated with them would not have been launched during that time. When services are available, companies remove the lock by sending updates to the customers.
Several other major brands including Apple, Samsung and OnePlus are yet to release any such updates to enable 5G usage but according to Airtel, 5G networks are almost ready for other mobiles like Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo. Let us know in which brand till when 5G network will be available.
Samsung
New Samsung phones like Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy A33, Galaxy M33, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 4) Already ready for 5G network, but an update is yet to be received from South-Korean phone-makers to enable older 5G phones. Also, Samsung has said that 5G updates for these older phones will be rolled out to supported devices by mid-November 2022.
Apple
The entire lineup of iPhones that support 5G networks is yet to receive the update, which means that all 5G iPhones in India are currently stuck on 4G networks. This includes the full lineup of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series as well as the iPhone SE 2022 (Gen-3). Apple has said that the company is working on an update to 5G and plans to launch it in India by December. This means that iPhone users will probably not be able to use 5G for about two months after the launch of the next-gen network.
Nothing
There is only one phone of the Nothing brand in the market today – ‘The Nothing Phone (1)’, which is 5G ready and will not require any update to access the 5G network.
OnePlus
While OnePlus has launched several 5G phones in India so far, its lineup is a mixed bag of devices that support 5G directly, or are waiting for an update. There are some older phones like the OnePlus Nord that are directly 5G ready, while the OnePlus Nord 2 is still waiting for the 5G-ready software update (5G-Ready Software Update). There is currently no information regarding the 5G update of OnePlus.
In Google’s range of Pixel phones, the only 5G-enabled phone to launch in India is the Pixel 6a, which was made available earlier this year. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, which were launched earlier this month, will also support 5G networks. But Google has not yet given any statement related to the 5G update for these devices.
