YouTube Handle: YouTube has announced that it will soon be launching a ‘handle’ for its creators, as it does on the Instagram and Twitter platforms. YouTube says the handle will be a unique URL that can be used to search for creators across the platform. This handle will start appearing on shorts, search results, channel pages, comments, mentions etc.
Initially YouTube only allowed custom URLs to over 100 creators. However, according to the latest update, all the creators will now have their own unique handle (URL). In the next few months, YouTube is looking to roll out the process where people will be able to create handles on YouTube and use them in the comment section and YouTube shorts, among others. Keep in mind, to use this feature, it is necessary that users also have their own account on the platform.
Handle will not depend on the number of subscribers
According to YouTube, this feature will be completely for all creators. It will not depend on factors like YouTube presence, number of subscribers and whether their channel is active or not. It further states that all the creators will get a chance to choose their particular handle till November 14. The company also stated that the official verification badge will not be removed by selecting the handle. However, if the creators change the name of their channel, they will have to reapply for the verification badge.
Also, it was recently reported that YouTube will only offer 4K quality videos as a premium feature. The company is testing this feature, which reportedly allows users to have 12 non-skipped ads in a row.
