Heath Streak Health Update: Former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak is fighting a battle with cancer. He is seriously ill. These days his treatment is going on in South Africa. He has colon and liver cancer. Fans from all over the country and the world are praying for his well-being. Zimbabwe’s Sports Minister tweeted and wrote, ‘Heath Streak is at its last stop. His family is going from Britain to South Africa. It seems that now only a miracle will be able to save them. Heath Streak represented Zimbabwe in international cricket for almost 13 years.
Sean Williams confirms
Zimbabwe all-rounder Sean Williams has confirmed this related to Heath Streak. Talking to Cricbuzz, Sean Williams said, ‘He has received a message from Heath Streak. Former all-rounder Heath Streak was fishing last week. Sean Williams further said, ‘Heath Streak has cancer in colon and liver which is in stage-4. All I know at this time is that Heath’s family was called to meet him in South Africa. I have no idea about it. I texted Heath who replied. But I am sure at this stage the family would want privacy. According to Williams, ‘It seems that the cancer is spreading very fast because he was fishing last week. Heath is my mentor and he has done a lot of good for a lot of people. We just pray that he gets well.
Captains in Test-ODI
Heath Streak has captained Zimbabwe in Tests and ODIs. He became the Test and ODI captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team in the year 2000. Heath Streak remained the captain of his team till 2004. During this, he captained Zimbabwe in 21 Test matches in which 4 won, 11 lost and 6 matches were drawn. Apart from this, he led Zimbabwe in 68 ODIs between 2000 and 2004. In which 18 matches were won, 47 lost and 3 matches did not result. Heath Streak has scored 2943 runs in 1990 and 189 ODIs in 65 Tests for Zimbabwe. He also has a century in his name Test.
