According to the India Digital Payments Annual Report, India has done 87.92 billion transactions with a total of Rs 149.5 trillion from UPI, debit and credit cards, prepaid. According to the data of the year 2022, there has been an increase of 91 percent in transactions and 76 percent in price as compared to 2021. China was once number one in the world in terms of digital payments. China’s digital payment was more than all countries in 2010 and then its digital transaction was 1119 million. India was at number two, which had a transaction of 370 million. America was at number three, whose digital transaction was 153 million.
How India became number one in terms of digital payments
Since 2010, India was making rapid leaps in terms of digital payments. However, the fastest increase has happened after the arrival of 2014. With the decline of China’s graph, by 2023, India has also crossed the level of 61 thousand million in terms of digital payment transactions. Highest digital transaction in this country of India
Bengaluru tops the list of Indian cities in terms of highest digital transactions in the year 2022. The city recorded 29 million transactions worth Rs 6500 crore in 2022. On the second number, 19.6 million transactions worth Rs 5000 crore were done in Delhi, followed by 18.7 million transactions worth Rs 4950 crore in Mumbai.
