Cricket Australia has named a gate at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground after Sachin Tendulkar. This gate has been unveiled today (April 24) itself. Along with Sachin, Brian Lara has also been honored.
While unveiling this gate, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hawkley said, ‘Today the cricket world is celebrating Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday. In such a situation, this is the right time to honor the extraordinary records of two great personalities Sachin and Brian Lara at the Sydney Cricket Ground. There is no doubt that the achievements of these two will not only encourage the visiting teams but will also encourage every player who steps on this ground for generations to come.
Sachin Tendulkar has played five Tests at the Sydney Cricket Ground. His batting average here is 157. He has scored a total of 785 runs on this historic ground with three centuries. A double century is also included in these. In January 2004, Sachin played an unbeaten inning of 241 runs. At the same time, Brian Lara scored the first century of his career on this ground. In the Test match played in January 1993, Lara scored an inning of 277 runs. Due to these records of Sachin and Lara on this ground, the gate has been named ‘Brian Lara-Sachin Tendulkar Gates’.

Sachin Tendulkar said, ‘My favorite ground outside India has always been “Sydney Cricket Ground”. From my first tour of Australia in 1991-92, I have many unique memories related to this ground. It is a matter of great honor that the entry gate to the visiting players’ ground at the SCG has been named after me and my special friend Brian.
