Musk’s company Tesla wants to import its vehicles in India first and for this it is demanding tax exemption. Musk says that he will first import Tesla in India and only after that it can be thought of setting up a factory in India. On the other hand, the Government of India has been continuously saying that instead of importing, the company should manufacture vehicles at the local level.

Right now Tesla manufactures its vehicles in Germany and China apart from America. The company imports from the factory in China to the Asian and European markets. The Government of India clearly says that instead of dumping Made in China vehicles in India, Tesla should consider setting up a factory here.
