The meeting was attended by senior officials from IMD, ICAR, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), major wheat producing states and state government as well as officials from DA&FW. In this meeting, the status of wheat crop has been discussed in detail on the data presented by the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In which more than 85 percent of the wheat area has been estimated.

Target to purchase 341.5 lakh tonnes of wheat

According to the ministry, in the total wheat procurement target for FY2022-23 (April-March), Punjab has been targeted to procure 25 lakh tonnes, Haryana 15 lakh tonnes and Madhya Pradesh 20 lakh tonnes.
