Indigo – Airbus Deal Likely: After Air India, India’s largest domestic budget airline Indigo is also preparing to place orders for the purchase of new aircraft. Europe’s leading manufacturing company is in talks with Airbus for this deal of Indigo planes. This disclosure has been made by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, who came to India to attend the G-20 meeting.
According to the French publication group Les Echos, this deal of Airbus with Indigo will be done at the French Airshow to be held in Le Bourget, France. Regarding this deal, an Airbus spokesperson told Reuters that the company continues to negotiate with the airlines. But he refused to speak anything on any type of conversation with any company.
Last week itself, Tata Group has ordered 470 new aircraft to Boeing and Airbus. And the company has the option of ordering 370 more planes in addition. This is the world record for ordering such a large number of aircraft simultaneously, which was earlier in the name of American Airlines, which ordered 460 aircraft in 2011.
IndiGo is currently the largest domestic airline in the country. But in the coming days, it is going to face a tremendous challenge to its supremacy from Tata Group’s Air India. Air India Vistara, AirAsia and Air India Express are going to merge with each other to create a big airlines company. To face this challenge, now Indigo has also started preparing.
The government is going to build 80 new airports in the next 5 years, after which there will be a total of 220 airports in the country. According to the Boeing report, till 2041, passenger traffic in India is estimated to increase at the rate of 7 percent every year. To meet the increasing demand for air travel in India, domestic airlines companies may have to order 2210 new planes.
