DGCI Notice to e-Pharma Companies: The Drug Controller General of India has issued notices to 20 e-Pharma companies operating across the country. The drug regulator of India has issued notices to these companies for violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. According to the report published in Money Control, DGCI VJ Somani has asked in the notice that in the last several years, the court has banned the sale of medicines online several times. In its notice, DGCI has asked why action should not be taken against them for this violation.
Know which companies have been issued notice-
Significantly, DGCI has issued show cause notices to 20 companies like Tata 1mg, Flipkart Health Plus (Flipkart Health+) and Amazon (Amazon) in case of violation of rules. At present, no company has given any official statement on this notice. In its notice, DGCI has said that selling medicines online without a valid DGCI license has a very bad effect on its quality. In such a situation, keeping in mind the health of the people, DGCI has taken this step.
Companies will have to answer in two days
In its notice, the drug controller has given two days to companies selling medicines online and through internet like Tata 1mg, Flipkart Health+ and Amazon. If the companies do not respond to this notice to DGCI during this time, then it will be assumed that they have no answer in this matter. After this DGCI will take action according to the law. Let us tell you that a few days ago the Delhi High Court had found three e-pharmacies selling medicines without DGCI valid license and had directed the drug controller to take action in this matter. It is worth noting that it is mandatory to obtain a valid license from DGCI for both online and offline sale of medicine in India.
