Bandhan Bank said on Monday that now senior citizens will get the benefit of 8.5 per cent interest and common customers will get 8 per cent interest on making fixed deposits in the bank. After increasing the interest, now senior citizens will get interest at the rate of 8.5 per cent and other citizens at the rate of 8 per cent per annum on bank fixed deposits (FD) of 600 days duration. Similarly, the interest rate on fixed deposits with a tenure of 1 year has been increased to 7 percent. This means that now senior citizens will be able to get the benefit of 0.5 percent additional interest in Bandhan Bank. The bank has implemented these new rates from today.

RBI had increased the repo rate

A meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee is organized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to decide the repo rate. Last year on 2022, RBI had increased the repo rate. The result of this is that banks had increased the rates of fixed deposits. After this, the interest rates of home loans and personal loans were also increased in banks.

Earlier, IDFC FIRST Bank had increased the interest rates of fixed deposits. In this bank, senior citizens are getting 8% interest on fixed deposits with a tenure of 18 months to 3 years. The same Jana Small Finance Bank had also announced to increase the interest rates on its FDs. Jana Bank is now paying up to 8.10 percent interest on FDs with a tenure of more than 2 years. At the same time, senior citizens are getting 8.80 percent interest in this FD.
