IND vs AUS 1st Test: Two days are left for the start of the Test series between India and Australia (IND vs AUS). As the date is getting closer, various statements are coming out from the possible playing-11 combination of both the teams to the batting order. Many former cricketers are also giving their opinion and suggestions on this. In this sequence, Harbhajan Singh has given an important suggestion for the opening pair of Team India. Harbhajan has said that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill should open in the Test series against Australia.
Sharing his thoughts on YouTube, Harbhajan has said, ‘Opening partnership is the most important thing. In any series, only the opening pair sets the tone. According to me Rohit and Shubman should open the Indian team against Australia. Gill is in excellent form at the moment. Although KL Rahul is also a top player but his recent record is not in his favor at the moment. At the same time, Gill is in the best form of his career. He has broken many records in the last month.
‘He can score a lot of runs for India’
Harbhajan also said that Shubman should open with Rohit not only for one match but in the entire series. Harbhajan says, ‘After scoring so many runs, I think he (Shubman Gill) deserves a place in India’s playing-11. Not only for one Test but Team India has to retain him in the entire series. The rhythm and confidence in which he is seen, he can score a lot of runs for India.
Shubman is in tremendous rhythm
Shubman Gill is in excellent form at the moment, while KL Rahul is trying to find his rhythm. Shubman Gill’s bat is running very fiercely these days. In ODI cricket, his batting average has been shocking, as well as in T20 cricket, this batsman has scored a century recently. Even in the Test matches played last year, he has been better than KL Rahul. In such a situation, he is seen beating KL Rahul in the case of opening pair.
Talking about Shubman Gill’s recent 12 international innings (T20, ODI, Test), he has scored 769 runs here at an excellent batting average of 76.90, including a double century and 4 centuries. On the other hand, KL Rahul is looking a bit colourless. He has been able to score 318 runs in the last 12 innings at an average of just 28.90. He has not been able to score a single century.
