Gautam Gabhir On Arshdeep Singh No Ball Problem: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir believes that apart from diversifying pace, it is equally important for left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh to sort out the issue of his no-ball bowling.
Arshdeep made his T20 debut in July 2022 against England. Arshdeep Singh has bowled 15 no balls in his short T20 International career. He has the record of throwing the most no balls in T20Is.
Arshdeep took 10 wickets for India in the T20 World Cup in Australia and did not let his absence be felt in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He also earned a nomination for the ICC Emerging Men’s Cricketer of the Year award. However, since the end of the T20 World Cup, Arshdeep is giving runs at an economy rate of 10.24 in T20s.
Gautam Gambhir said, you think about doing something new in your bowling. Whether it is a slow bouncer or slow bowling. any kind of difference. Unfortunately, he doesn’t really have the pace to trouble the batsmen. So some variation has to be developed.
Gambhir told Star Sports, he is not Umran Malik, he is not Mohammad Siraj. So one thing that he needs to do is maybe suggest his no ball issue.
Arshdeep bowled five no-balls in the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune earlier this month, the most by an Indian bowler. In the first T20I against New Zealand, Arshdeep conceded 27 runs in his last over including a no-ball, which India eventually lost.
But he bounced back, taking 2/7 in India’s six-wicket victory on a bowler-assisted pitch in Lucknow. This performance is better. But the most important thing is not to bowl those no-balls. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially at this level, because it hurts the team a lot.”
Gambhir said, just keep the basics right. Look, the World Cup situation is completely different from what you normally find in your home. You were getting swing and bounce with the new ball in Australia. But when you play in the subcontinent, the situation is completely different.”
