Goa Tourism: The corona epidemic that came in the whole world including India not only damaged the health infrastructure, but also caused huge damage to the tourism industry of many countries. One of the most popular tourist destinations in India, tourists are now slowly coming to Goa. The Corona epidemic had also caused a lot of damage to the tourist sector of this state. Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai told that after facing the brunt of the Corona epidemic, there is a steady increase in the number of tourists coming to Goa. By the month of September 2022, 49.55 lakh tourists had come to visit this state from all over the country. While the number of tourists coming from abroad was 0.95 lakh.
49.55 lakh tourists came in 2022
Pillai gave this information while addressing the Goa Assembly on the first day of the winter session. He said that after Corona, tourists have started liking Goa the most as their holiday destination. Pillai said that the number of tourists coming to Goa is continuously increasing. In the year 2021, about 33.08 lakh tourists came from all over the country to visit. While in the same year 0.22 lakh tourists from abroad had turned to Goa. However, till September 2022, about 49.55 lakh tourists from the country and 0.95 lakh from abroad had visited the state.
VAT reduced on ATF
Sreedharan Pillai said that the Goa government has reduced the requirement of documents by 60% for various services related to tourism such as travel agents, hotels, water sports, photographers, tourist guides, deck beds and umbrellas etc. He said that the government has developed a mobile app to give information about the activities related to the movement of illegal deck beds, umbrellas, tables, touts and hawkers. He said that the state government has taken a progressive decision to reduce VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from 18% to 8%. This is likely to give more importance to Goa.
