The United Kingdom’s attempt to launch the first rocket from its soil ended in failure after the rocket carrying nine satellites failed to reach orbit.

According to AFP, an attempt to launch the first rocket into orbit from UK soil has ended in failure, with scientists reporting an “anomaly” as it nears its goal.

“A rocket carrying nine satellites detached from the Virgin Orbit Boeing 747 over the Atlantic Ocean but failed to reach orbit,” it added.

Reports mention that the rocket made it into space but failed to reach the right altitude, with its multimillion-pound cargo of satellites left to break up in the atmosphere.
