World Cup 2023: ODI World Cup is going to be organized in India at the end of this year. Being the host, India is being seen as a contender to win the title. Gautam Gambhir, who was a part of the World Cup winning team, has given very important advice to the veteran players of India in view of the biggest tournament. Gambhir believes that all the legendary players of India should not take a break from the ODI format this year under any circumstances.
Gambhir says that India’s veteran players should focus on the ODI format. If he wants to take a break, he can take it from T20 matches. Gambhir said, “It is definitely necessary to play ODIs this year. If they want to take a break, people who play more than three formats, they can definitely take a break from T20 cricket, but not from the ODI format.”
During this, Gambhir has also told a big mistake of Team India. He further said, “I think the biggest mistake Indian cricket has made in the last two World Cups is that these players haven’t played enough cricket together. Tell me how many times have we got the best playing 11 in the field?”
Team India may be selected in September
“We didn’t do that, only during the World Cup we decided to have the best playing 11, but unfortunately it was never the best playing 11,” Gambhir said on the show ‘Road to World Cup Glory’ on Star Sports.
On the other hand, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, former cricketer and chairman of the selection committee that selected the 2011 ODI World Cup winning Indian team, said that the team for the 2023 World Cup is to be selected by the time India plays ODIs against Australia in September.
