Bangladesh coach Domingo resigns, decision taken after India’s Test series defeat

Russell Domingo Bangladesh: Bangladesh cricket team head coach Russell Doming has resigned from his post. His tenure was to last till the World Cup 2023. But took this decision after the defeat in the Test series against India. He was associated with the Bangladeshi team in September 2019 as the head coach. Doming was included in place of Steve Rhodes. Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Jalal Yunus has reacted to this.

Bangladesh head coach Domingo has resigned without completing his tenure. According to a report published on Cricbuzz, his tenure was going to last till 2023 World Cup. But he has already resigned. According to the report, Jalal Yunus, Cricket Operations Chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed this. On Domingo’s resignation, he said, “He (Domingo) sent his resignation on Tuesday itself and left the post with immediate effect.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan indicated on Monday that he was not happy with Domingo’s performance. According to Cricbuzz, he had said, “We want to move forward with the long term plan, do not want the short term plan.” This is a three to four year plan and during this time changes will be made as needed.

Bangladesh won T20I series against Australia and New Zealand at home under Domingo’s coaching, while also achieving their Test victory in New Zealand and ODI victory in South Africa. But Bangladesh had to face a 2-0 defeat in the Test series against India. Earlier, he had won 2-1 in the ODI series.
