At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 241 points at 60,826 and the Nifty closed down by 71 points at 18,127 points.

Shares of all sectors slipped

Earlier, after gaining 400 points, the Sensex slipped 830 points below its high, while the Nifty slipped 250 points below its high. No sector was spared from the fall in the stock market today. Shares of all sectors like Banking, IT, Auto, FMCG, Energy, Pharma, Metals declined. Midcap and smallcap stocks also took a beating.

Despite the big fall in the market, the shares of UltraTech Cement rose by 0.71 per cent, Infosys by 0.68 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank by 0.58 per cent, Asian Pants by 0.65 per cent, Sun Pharma by 0.52 per cent and Bharti Airtel by 0.34 per cent. While the shares of Bajaj Finserv closed down by 2.63 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 2.37 per cent, Tata Motors by 2.08 per cent, Larsen by 1.70 per cent, Tata Steel by 1.65 per cent.

Big loss to investors

Due to the fall in the stock market, investors have suffered huge losses even today. Rs 2.30 lakh crore of investors drowned in today’s trading session. The market cap of listed shares in BSE was Rs 280.53 lakh crore, which was Rs 282.84 lakh crore on Wednesday.
