Moonlighting is there in the night, that’s why moonlighting.

Earlier people with low salaries used to do this for extra income, but after Corona, employees of IT sector who are getting good salary are also doing this. According to experts, due to work from home in IT companies, employees have got a chance for moonlighting.

Why is MONLIGHTING being discussed?

Due to this increasing trend of moonlighting among IT professionals, a new debate has started in the IT sector. Wipro had fired 300 of its employees on charges of moonlighting, after which this discussion gained momentum. Apart from this, IT company Infosys had also warned its employees about moonlighting by sending an internal mail. At the same time, IBM and TCS have also shown opposition to moonlighting.

It all started when Swiggy introduced its moonlighting policy for its employees in the month of August. Under the policy, employees were allowed to take up external projects to earn more money. Online food delivery platform Swiggy said that the moonlighting policy will allow employees to work extra hours outside the office or on weekends. However, Swiggy mentioned that this should not affect his performance in a full time job. In addition, there should be no conflict of interest with the business of the company.
