500 Rupee Note: The trap of counterfeit notes is not taking its name to end. Despite demonetisation, counterfeit notes continue to be found in the country. According to the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau), a total of Rs 20.39 crore worth of counterfeit notes were seized in 2021. So according to the RBI’s annual report, the number of counterfeit notes in the country in 2021-22 has increased by 10.7 percent compared to the previous year 2020-21. In 2021-22, 101.9 percent more fake notes of Rs 500 have been found. At the same time, there has been an increase of 54.16 percent in the number of counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000. Actually, a video is going viral on social media in which the difference between two notes of 500 rupees is being told. In the video, one note has been told as true and the other as fake. It is being warned in the video that no such note of ₹ 500 should be taken, in which the green strip is not near the RBI Governor’s signature but near the picture of Gandhiji. Obviously, due to such viral posts, misunderstandings arise among people. But regarding the truth of this viral post, the Department of Communications (PIB) has fact-checked and has given complete information about it.

But PIB in its factcheck has termed the viral video as fake. He said in his factcheck that both the notes are valid. RBI also says that both the 500 rupee notes are valid. Let us tell you that in 2016, when the old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 were withdrawn after demonetisation, when new notes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 were issued. When the government had said that the big objective of demonetisation is to eliminate fake currency.
